MEET CHELSEA

Founder and Principal Designer

Chelsea Benay, LLC was founded in 2015 in Asheville, NC as a full service interior design firm. Chelsea’s path to fulfilling her lifelong dream of owning a home design business included studying both interior design and business finance, five years of experience working with other talented designers, and NCIDQ licensure.

Growing up with parents in real estate development, Chelsea was surrounded by design and construction professionals and felt a pull toward interior design from a young age. She recalls tearing out pages from interior design magazines like Architectural Digest and Elle Decor as a child and helping her family with interior design projects as a teenager.

Learning and growing in the interior design industry has proven to be a fun and rewarding process. Chelsea truly loves what she does and that is reflected in her work and the relationships she has fostered with clients and others in the design community. She feels lucky to collaborate with talented Asheville design-build professionals and clients who inspire her to show up and do her best everyday.

GUIDING PRINCIPLES

1. Authenticity

Our goal is for our clients’ unique and authentic personalities to come through in the projects we design. We strive for authenticity in our designs and through interactions with clients and other professionals.

2. Openness

We remain open to the opinions of others and try not to become too rigid in our thinking or our design concepts. Our hope is that our clients and the professionals we work with also stay open-minded throughout the creative process as well.

3. Collaboration

Whether we're working with clients, builders, architects, other designers, or craftspeople, collaboration is a key component of good design. Brainstorming together and building off one another’s ideas often creates the best results.

4. Balance

In design and in life, the importance of balance cannot be overstated. Balancing colors, textures, and shapes is something we're always staying attuned to and looking out for in our work.

5. Conscious Consumerism

We all have a responsibility to be aware of our consumption habits and try to minimize waste. When working on projects, we consider the long-term implications of a design, and strive to make selections that will stand the test of time.
